I love me some Etsy!

It took me awhile to actually buy something on Etsy but I finally took the leap a couple of months ago and bought this awesome black/white damask strap for my camera.  I had just bought a new DSLR camera for myself a few weeks prior and of course I wanted to pimp it out a bit to fit my own personality.  My entire bedroom is damask so I thought .. why not? :)  It arrived very quickly and it is great!!  The seller did a wonderful job.  If you’re looking for a new camera strap, check them out!!

Then I bought a necklace!  I have been wanting something simple with my kids’ names for quite some time.  Originally I had wanted the small circle pendants that seem to be quite popular but I decided on these handstamped tags instead.  I haven’t actually received them yet so I can’t review them thoroughly but I’ll definitely post photos to Flickr once I do.

Oh and I also ordered myself some “word art” for my living room wall yesterday.  I have been searching high and low for something that really looked like it would fit well with my comfortable decor and this quote will be wonderful, I’m sure.  I ordered it in light matte brown and I plan to put it .. where else?  Right above my couch! :)  Again, I don’t actually have it in hand yet but I am sure you all will hear about it once I do.

Now I need to stop shopping!  I have been so good lately and then I had this little slip.  If only Etsy wasn’t so tempting!!

Must post MORE!

Yes, I know.  With five blogs I think I may have went in over my head.  I tend to think of a cute domain name that really grabs my attention and then buy it, set it up and .. leave it.  Yikes.  I will have to try and get here more often to use it as I had intended.

Soon, soon!

Must .. apply .. makeup!

It’s been nearly 5 days since I put my “face” on.  I’m a little embarrassed about that too.  I hate sitting around all day like a scrub but when other things take priority I am forced too.  What I hate even more is that the husband never seems to notice either way.  I could be walking around in a moo-moo with mascara streaks under my eyes from the night before and he’s totally fine with it.  *sighs*  While I appreciate having a non-judgemental husband husband who doesn’t press on me to be “beautiful”, I do wish he had some sort of preference.  What’s the point of spending hundreds of dollars on my makeup if no one appreciates it but myself?  :(

WoodWick Candles

Every chick loves candles, right? They provide ambiance, set the mood for a romantic evening, scent stinky rooms, and serve as an emergency source of light during power outages. I almost always have a half dozen candles on hand for when the mood strikes and usually that mood strikes me every single day. I can’t start my day without my Diet Dr. Pepper and a lit candle! A little obsessive? Probably! :)

2430808311_da4924f49e Normally I am all about Yankee Candles as they tend to have the strongest scents available but after doing some shopping around, reading reviews, and pricing other brands I decided to try WoodWick candles this time around. I found them at CandlesToMyDoor.com at 15% off with a very reasonable shipping price tacked on. This was my first time ordering from the site and I have to add that I was more than impressed with their service. I received my order within 2 business days and everything was packed so carefully. The candles arrived in pristine condition. They also carry MANY other brands of candles so I can totally see myself going back for more. What a great find! Their link was a sponsored ad on Google and while I normally shy away from sites like that I am glad I was more daring this time around.

Anyway - back to WoodWick! When I opened the package from CandlesToMyDoor.com I was thrilled to find two beautiful candles in very classy glass containers. They are sleek and match the rest of my decor nicely with their mahogany colored wood lids - much better than that apothecary look that many candle makers use. But the main “OOOOH” factor with these candles are the wood wicks. The wood wick burns clean, evenly and it provides SOUND. Yes, sound! While burning these candles you not only get that wonderful scent but you also get the ambiance of a crackling fire as well - it’s really neat! I have never seen anything like this before. Even the mister commented on how cool he thought it was and he is SO not into the girly home decor stuff.
